Watching movies in Ubuntu calmly with Caffeine

When watching movies or videos, a screen saver will turn on in Ubuntu. Or, the computer goes into hibernation / standby mode. You have to move the mouse to keep the computer awake, which is annoying. A little Caffeine applet comes to the rescue.

The Caffeine program is launched at system startup and its icon hangs on the top panel. To activate it, just click on it and select Disable Screensaver in the menu that opens. Now you can enjoy the movie in peace.

Unfortunately, this great program is not found in the Ubuntu Application Center. Therefore, you have to install with commands through the terminal.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:caffeine-developers/ppa

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install caffeine

After installation, launch caffeine and go to settings. And there we put a checkmark next to the options you need. Actually, that’s all. Enjoy it!
