According to a new patent application, Apple may be preparing a MacBook in a matte black case. In the documents filed by the company, this color is described as “light-absorbing”. The described manufacturing process assumes that the finish can be used for a variety of metal alloys using titanium, steel and aluminum.
Apple hopes to achieve such a treatment of the metal that the surface of the MacBook will practically not reflect light and glare in the sun. For this, a whole complex of different technologies has been developed for the formation of light-absorbing particles.
Although the patent is presented on the example of the company’s laptops, nothing prevents Apple from using the same finishing technology in other branded devices, including the iPhone and Apple Watch. It is possible that matte black will replace the traditional gray Space Gray.
